Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona), June 2009.- The Ascamm Foundation, based in Vallès Technological Park and whose chairman is the entrepreneur Antoni Peñarroya, is to invest a total of 6 million euros over the next three years in enlarging its Technological Centre.

  • The extension project forms part of the Strategic Plan (2008-2011) and was announced by its Managing Director, Xavier López, during the course of the IV Ascamm Business Innovation Forum
  • Through this extension, Ascamm Technology Centre will have 11,000 square metres of developed land and be in a position to increase its research activities by 70%
  • The project will mean increasing staff by 60% to a total of 160 workers
  • The Minister of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, Josep Huguet awarded the first Ascamm Prizes for Innovation at the Forum
  • Ascamm presents its new corporate image
The above was announced by the Managing Director of the Ascamm Foundation, Xavier López, during his speech at the Ascamm Business Innovation Forum held on 15 June at CosmoCaixa (Barcelona), which was attended by more than 200 people from the business sector. The extension of Ascamm Technology Centre forms part of the Strategic Plan (2008-2011) and is one of the most important projects executed by Ascamm since it first started up its business activities in 1987. As Xavier López explained, once the extension work has been completed, Ascamm Technology Centre will have a surface area of 11,000 square metres. This is practically double that of the current facilities, which occupy an area of 6,000 sq m.

The project also envisages the incorporation of new technological equipment, which will make it possible to increase the number of innovation projects by 70%, according to forecasts. Based on the initial schedule, work is to be commenced this year, with an execution term of two years.
On the other hand, as is provided for in the new Strategic Plan, the current staff will be increased by 60%, totalling 160 workers, most of whom are industrial engineers, biomedical technologists, physicists and other highly qualified technical staff.
The project for enlarging Ascamm Technology Centre was welcomed by the entrepreneurs attending the Ascamm Business Innovation forum at CosmoCaixa (Barcelona), which on this occasion, dealt with the topic "Innovating with people", in other words, innovation in human resources development and skills as a motor of change in companies, particularly in difficult times such as these. Entrepreneurial cases explained from the perspective of the experience of the persons experiencing them, were completed by the academic and administrative perspective which certainly served to contribute even more to the subsequent debate that was organised among all the participants.
The Ascamm Forum was closed by the Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, Josep Huguet, who awarded the Ascamm Prizes for Innovation, in their first edition, to the company ABM Moldes, S.L. (in the Innovative Company category) and the Sonoplast Project (in the Best Strategic Project category), as an R+D project applied to industrialisation, promoting cooperation between companies and other agents (Mateu & Solé and the Ascamm Foundation).
During the act, the new corporate image of the Ascamm Foundation was presented. This comprises a new graphic concept that encompasses everything it is: A leading technology centre in the field of industrial innovation.
